Though called "solitare", BG Word Solitare is much more like a single player scrabble type game than one of the card style spacial puzzles.
The principle is fairly easy to understand, being a a cross between Poker Solitare and Boggle. Arrange letters in a 5 x 5 grid and score points for the number of words formed horizontally or vertically. Scores multiply if the letters of a word are intersected with other letters, many that good spacial stratogy as well as a good vocabulary are needed for those who want to rake in the points. As with Scrabble, three blank, wildcard letters are available which you are free to make any letters you like to make your word building easier and ramp up your score.
As with all the Spoonbill titles, Microsoft Sapi is used to voice the game so no screen reading program is needed. Options also exist to change the graphics settinngs for visually impared players, for example having white letters on a black background, and to maximize the display. The game can also play midi music files while you solve words too.
Also, as with all of Ian Humphries other titles, BG Word solitare is absolutely free.
